About Nimrods Film
Nimrods is a 2025 American coming-of-age road comedy written and directed by Lee Kirk. The film features Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, Sean Gunn, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Tré Cool, and Mckenna Grace. The story follows three teenagers who embark on a journey from Kansas City to Los Angeles after believing their band has been chosen to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve.
Nimrods premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, 2025. Inaugural Entertainment later released the film theatrically in the United States on August 14, 2026. The coming-of-age comedy received generally positive reviews from critics.
Nimrods: Green Day’s First Movie
Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool, and Mike Dirnt, the iconic members of Green Day, recently joined Mason Thames and director Lee Kirk on the IGN stage to discuss their film, Nimrods, which draws inspiration from the band’s early touring experiences and adopts a road trip comedy format. Additionally, following their experience of having their music featured in a film, the band addressed the possibility of adapting their renowned album, American Idiot, for a cinematic release.
